Florida coach Dan Mullen is getting ripped for his comments after blowout Cotton Bowl loss

“The last game the 2020 team played was 11 days ago,” Mullen said.

The Florida Gators suffered an embarrassing 55-20 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners in Wednesday night’s Cotton Bowl. Head coach Dan Mullen’s comments didn’t make the situation any better.

The Gators played without 16 of their core players, including multiple starters, leading Mullen to make one of his more questionable comments after the loss.

“The last game the 2020 team played was 11 days ago,” Mullen said.

Mullen is known for his sometimes mercurial post-game reactions, though which way he’s going to fall is anyone’s guess.  A little under two weeks ago, Mullen was bluntly honest about his mistakes after the Gators SEC Championship loss to Alabama. After losing to LSU over that odd shoe-throwing incident, Mullen was salty as hell.

Wednesday night, his comments seemed to take a dig at players who rightfully chose not to play in a meaningless Bowl game, and were a knock on the players who will be stepping up in future seasons.

Anyway, it did not go over well with college football fans, because he sounded like a big baby making excuses.
