Florida basketball drops in ESPN’s BPI after TAMU loss

Here’s where Florida lands in the latest BPI after the tough Wednesday night loss.

It has been a rough start to the Southeastern Conference schedule for Florida basketball, which owns a paltry 0-2 record in SEC play so far after a pair of disappointing losses — most recently at home to the Texas A&M Aggies on Wednesday night. While few had superlative expectations for [autotag]Todd Golden[/autotag]’s squad in his first season on the sidelines, the 7-7 overall start has already tested the patience of the Gator Nation.

Ahead of the start of conference play against the Auburn Tigers, the Orange and Blue held the No. 39 spot in ESPN’s Basketball Power Index. Now that those two losses have been added to the total tally, Florida finds itself ranked No. 45. For comparison, the NET rankings currently have the Gators at No. 75 as of Thursday.

Next up for Golden’s squad are the Georgia Bulldogs who travel with former Florida head coach Mike White to the O’Dome on Saturday for a 1 p.m. EST matinee affair. Despite a tidy 11-3 record entering the matchup, UGA ranks No. 91 in the BPI and No. 106 in the NET.
