Florida 2024 recruiting class moves into ESPN’s top 5 after several additions

Florida’s 2024 recruiting class is shaping up to be one of the best in the country. Following several recent additions, the Gators have moved into ESPN’s top five.

The Florida Gators just wrapped up a massive week on the recruiting trail, which included more than half a dozen verbal commitments. Because of all the recent additions to the class, ESPN has bumped UF up from the No. 11 spot on its 2024 team recruiting rankings to the No. 4 spot.

Billy Napier and Co. earned four commitments on Saturday, mostly from recruits who were still in Gainesville on an official visit, and another trio of verbals came in on Monday.

In total, the Gators have added nine players to the class of 2024 in June. The highest-ranked is five-star defensive end Jamonta Waller. ESPN highlights him in the update as the team’s new top defensive commit.

“Five-star Jamonta Waller has a bit of a tweener build at 6-2, 230 pounds, but he is a disruptive force off the edge with a good blend of quickness, agility, body control and effort.”

ESPN also has its eyes on four-star inside linebacker Aaron Chiles and four-star defensive lineman  Amaris Williams. Both committed to UF over the weekend.

“(Defensive lineman) Amaris Williams could end up being a steal, as his stock has risen during the offseason and he was a top performer at the Elite Underclassmen camp, where he posted strong testing numbers, including a 4.78 40-yard dash at 260 pounds.”

Only Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State are ranked higher than Florida right now. The Bulldogs and Wolverines have over 20 recruits under commitment, so Florida and Ohio State should have a better chance to improve. Of course, any one of these schools is capable of landing a class-changing talent.
