Flashback Friday: Here’s when the Bears have played on Christmas Day

The Bears have played twice on Christmas Day with both games against the Packers, where Chicago has gone 1-1.

With just two weeks left in the 2020 regular season, the NFL is gifting football fans with a Christmas Day match-up between the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings, which will give Chicago Bears fans something to watch.

Touchdown Wire compiled a list of every NFL game played on Christmas Day, and the Bears have made two appearances in the last 15 years — both coming against the Green Bay Packers, where Chicago has gone 1-1 in those contests.

Brett Favre threw four interceptions in this game, and Green Bay still only lost by seven points. Chicago got the win 24-17 to sweep their arch rivals.

Green Bay was 13-1 and coming off a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Chicago was on a four-game losing streak after starting 7-3. The Packers polished off the Bears 35-21.

When it comes to holiday games, the Bears have played on Thanksgiving the most — a whopping 35 times, with 18 wins.

This year marked the first time since 2013 that they Bears didn’t play a game on a holiday — Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.
