Five-star Texas safety narrows down list — USC is on it

USC, Oregon, and three SEC schools are the finalists in this recruitment.

One of the top safeties in the nation, blue-chip recruit Xavier Filsaime out of McKinney, Texas, has included the USC Trojans among his top five schools.

The five-star safety listed the Trojans as one of his final remaining schools, along with Oregon, Georgia, LSU, and Florida. Filsaime is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 32 overall player in the class of 2024, and the No. 2 safety in the nation.

Xavier Filsaime stands at 6-1 and weighs 180 pounds. He is rated a 4-star (0.9743) prospect in the overall composite rankings, which view him as the No. 44 recruit in the country, the No. 3 safety, and the No. 7 player in the state of Texas.

Filsaime is an elite safety with great cover and ball skills. He reminds me of former Alabama safety Xavier McKinney, who now is in the NFL and currently playing for New York Giants. Filsaime brings a level of range and instincts which could certainly give USC a boost in the secondary.
