Five-star QB commit DJ Lagway to visit the Swamp for Gators-Vols game

Florida’s quarterback of the future DJ Lagway will be back on campus next weekend for the Gators matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers.

The most well-known name in Florida’s 2024 recruiting class is five-star quarterback [autotag]DJ Lagway[/autotag], and the Willis (Texas) signal caller makes a point of using his star power as a recruiting tool for the Gators.

With that in mind, Lagway will be returning to the Swamp on Saturday, Sept. 16, for the Florida-Tennessee game, according to Keith Niebuhr of Gators Online. The Week 3 matchup (and SEC opener) is being built up as a major recruiting weekend, with several members of the class of 2024 and class of 2025 planning on visiting.

Lagway being on campus should only enhance the experience for those visitors with an offer in hand, and he could even convince a few to pledge their services to Orange and Blue. He vowed to make a few trips over the regular season, and this is the first.

Four-star offensive tackle Jordan Seaton is a name to watch with Lagway in town, and it’s possible that the nation’s top receiver, Jeremiah Smith, will stop by the Swamp as well. Smith has been a focus of Lagway’s for some time now, but it’s going to take a lot to flip him from Ohio State.

Lagway is a five-star recruit on the On3 industry ranking, which uses a weighted average from the four major recruit services. He’s ranked No. 31 overall in the class of 2024 and is No. 4 among quarterbacks. He’s also the eighth-highest-ranked player out of Texas in his class.
