Five-star prospect Greg Brown III announced Friday afternoon on Instagram Live that he has committed to play basketball next season at the University of Texas.

The McDonald’s All American was considering bypassing college basketball altogether in order to participate in the professional pathway program unveiled recently by the NBA G League. Brown ultimately passed on the revamped program and chose Texas over the likes of Kentucky, Memphis and Auburn among others.

The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 20.2 points and 6.8 rebounds per game on the AAU circuit in 2019 for the Texas Titans. He has been highly touted for his athleticism and ability to finish at the rim and figures to be a prized addition for the Longhorns.

Given his abilities, Brown was a highly sought-after prospect for the G League to consider adding next to Jalen Green and Isaiah Todd but he ultimately chose the college life over turning professional early.

Brown is projected to be selected 10th in the Rookie Wire 2021 NBA Mock Draft.
