Recruiting for the LSU Tigers has been stagnant since the decommitment of five-star safety Jacoby Mathews. While the team still remains among his top schools, it has been quiet for Ed Orgeron in the 2022 recruiting cycle. However, the team did receive good news as they were among the top schools for a top 2022 edge defender.
On Friday Omari Abor of Duncanville, Texas, listed his top schools for recruitment. Joining LSU is Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, and Texas A&M. The early favorite for his recruitment, Oklahoma, was left off his final five schools. The Tigers are no strangers to recruiting in the Lone Star State. Since the year 2000, they have signed 38 players from Texas. Only the state of Louisiana (130) has produced more Tigers.
Abor is the No. 2 Edge defender of the 2022 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings and No. 3 in the state of Texas. He would be a monster addition to the 2022 class that currently ranks as the No. 7 class in the country.
If Daronte Jones and Andre Carter can secure his commitment, he could likely be an impact player next season when Ali Gaye and possibly Andre Anthony are both gone from the program. Teaming him up with BJ Ojulari and Jarell Cherry in 2022.
