Five-star DL out of Georgia picks Ohio State over USC

.@BuckeyesWire won. USC did not.

Eddrick Houston, a five-star defensive lineman out of Buford, Georgia, picked Ohio State over USC earlier this week.

Houston is rated as the No. 4 defensive lineman and the 28th overall prospect in the 2024 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings. He announced his decision to play college football at OSU over other finalists Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, and USC.

Per 247Sports, Houston recorded 64 tackles, 11 tackles-for-loss, 10 sacks and 15 quarterback pressures for Buford as a junior.

Bill Kurelic of 247Sports reported that Houston made his official visit to Ohio State the weekend of June 16-18. Houston noted that Buckeyes defensive line coach Larry Johnson and the strong history of talented defensive ends at Ohio State were major factors in his decision to commit to the team.

“I sat down and talked to coach [Ryan] Day,” Houston said. “It was great. Look at the people (Johnson) put in the league — Chase Young, Nick Bosa, Joey Bosa, just some high-caliber people like that.”
