Five-star defensive back Tony Mitchell opens up on his Texas recruitment

Texas has some work to do when it comes to the recruitment of five-star DB Tony Mitchell.

Texas’ secondary has been depleted for some time now, as it has been a turnstile of players coming in and not producing.

The 2018 class was loaded with members of the secondary that were thought to solidify it for years, but that never happened and now Steve Sarkisian’s staff is tasked with building up a defensive back group at a program that considers itself to be “DBU.”

The Longhorns are squarely in the mix for five-star defensive back Tony Mitchell, who spoke about where he stands with some of the top schools in his recruitment.

As of right now, the Longhorns have some ground to make up as according to both On3’s prediction machine and 247Sports’ crystal ball predictions, Alabama is the clear-cut favorite.

Texas could use Mitchell’s services, as after this season the Longhorns will lose D’Shawn Jamison and Anthony Cook and will need high level players to come in and be ready right away.
