Following a week of anticipation, it didn’t take long for the air to be sucked out of the stadium with Tennessee jumping out a 20-0 lead. Down 20-7, LSU had a chance to cut the lead before the half, but a turnover on downs allowed Tennessee to go up 23-7 before starting the second half with the football and making it 30-7.

That was the ballgame, and the Volunteers ultimately won 40-13.

LSU looked fine early in the game, but too many miscues put the Tigers in a hole, and eventually, the dam broke and Tennessee looked like the wildly better team.
