Five takeaways from Iowa women’s basketball’s road rout of Rutgers

No. 3 Iowa women’s basketball flew past Rutgers, 103-69. Five takeaways from the Hawkeyes’ road triumph over the Scarlet Knights.

Add another win to the books for the Hawkeyes.

The Iowa Hawkeyes earned their 15th victory of the season, topping the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 103-69. It was all Iowa from the starting whistle, clearly the better team in front of a sold-out crowd in New Jersey.

Caitlin Clark was the star, surprise, despite not having her best night from the field. She led both teams with 29 points, adding 10 rebounds and 10 assists in her latest triple-double effort. Kate Martin was Iowa’s second-leading scorer with 15 points. Hannah Stuelke, Gabbie Marshall, and Sydney Affolter all reached double-digit points.

Both the eye test as well as the stats will tell you that this was a completely one-sided affair for the Hawkeyes as Iowa dominated in pretty much every category. Even with Clark leading the way with another fantastic triple-double, this was still a great team performance by the Hawkeyes.

Everyone looked good in a game they were heavily favored to win. You’ll take that any day of the week. Here are the takeaways from Friday night’s win.
