Five Burning Questions for the Texas Longhorns this offseason

With the offseason one bowl game away from beginning, the staff answers the five burning questions for the Texas Longhorns.

4) Which draft eligible player needs to return?

Cami Griffin – Brennan Eagles

There are rumors wide receiver Brennan Eagles is contemplating taking his talents to the next level. However, another season for the promising playmaker would do wonders for his draft stock. It’s a tough decision considering there will likely be a new signal-caller under center, but Eagles could easily emerge as the Longhorns top receiver next season and have his most productive year yet.

Patrick Conn – Sam Ehlinger

Much like my answer for who will be the starting quarterback, I believe Ehlinger needs to return for another year. Once viewed as a top-five quarterback in this class by Dane Brugler, his stock took a hit down the stretch. The warts are showing in his game with throws outside the numbers and down the field. If he wants to improve his draft stock with another year, coming back to the Forty Acres is the best answer.

Griffin McVeigh – Caden Sterns

If you are asking from a selfish perspective, my answer would be Joseph Ossai. Watching him come back and continue to cause havoc in backfields would be beneficial next season. However, he is likely off to the NFL with a first-round grade. Instead, I will choose Caden Sterns despite him already declaring for the NFL draft. Since his freshman year, his progression has slowed, and Sterns has not been as explosive. Another year could greatly benefit not only him but this Texas defense.
