Patrick Conn – Absolutely not

The worst kept secret in Austin was the pursuit of Urban Meyer. After taking a swing at the best name available, the Longhorns administration is now trying to figure out its next move. After this pursuit, I don’t see how Texas can go back to Tom Herman and company. The damage is done, but who the next head coach of the Texas Longhorns will be remains the question despite the vote of confidence.

Cami Griffin – No

I’m not confident in who will be the head coach at the University of Texas next season, but I am confident that it will not be Tom Herman. Athletic director Chris Del Conte tends to hire proven, championship-level coaches, and Herman doesn’t fit his bill. Herman had the fifth-most talented roster in the country this season and severely underwhelmed on the field. A few of Texas’ key losses were arguably due to being outcoached. Even if Texas can’t land Urban Meyer, it’s worth looking for a fresh start elsewhere.

Griffin McVeigh – Yes

With the statement Chris Del Conte released on Saturday afternoon, believing the door is shut on Herman being fired is tough to believe. However, with reports coming he will, for sure, be coming back, I tend to believe those more than a statement released. The reality is Texas would be paying too much buyout money without getting a major upgrade at head coach. A weak coaching market and no Urban Meyer should result in Herman coming back for at least one more season.
