The attention and speculation continue to surround Tom Herman’s future in Austin. It’s clear Texas continues to experience familiar failures under Herman and suffers heartbreaking losses to unranked teams each season. However, on Saturday afternoon Texas athletic director Chris Del Conte released a statement to remove all doubt.
Although Herman finished with an overall 6-3 record this season, the outcome could have been much worse. Texas needed a miracle to squeak by Texas Tech early on in the season and narrowly defeated Oklahoma State and West Virginia. The only confident wins came against UTEP, Baylor and Kansas State.
