The Jaguars look to build upon their 2022 playoff appearance, the franchise’s first postseason action since the 2017 season. The fanbase will have high expectations that QB Trevor Lawrence can get them back to consistently being in the postseason. Jacksonville finished 9-8 last season in head coach Doug Pederson’s first season with the organization and is a -155 favorite to capture the AFC South for a 2nd straight year.
The Colts drafted QB Anthony Richardson with the 4th-overall selection this offseason, but all eyes have been on the situation with RB Jonathan Taylor. The stud running back was involved in an offseason contract dispute and has been placed on the PUP to begin the season, missing at least 4 games before he’s able to return to action.
Richardson, from the University of Florida, has high expectations entering his rookie season, but the Colts as a franchise do not. RB Zack Moss — a prime candidate to see the bulk of the work with Taylor sidelined — has yet to return to practice following a broken arm in the summer which may leave work to RBs Deon Jackson and Evan Hull. WR Michael Pittman Jr. returns the team’s main offensive weapon in the passing game.

The Colts and Jaguars have a lengthy head-to-head history. Indianapolis leads the series 27-17; however, the Jaguars have won 9 of the last 15 meetings.
The two teams’ last matchup was in Week 6 last year, a 34-27 Colts victory. Former Colts QB Matt Ryan threw for 3 touchdowns and 389 yards as Indianapolis covered as a 1-point favorite while the Over (41.5) cashed.
The Jaguars haven’t gone to Indianapolis and come out with a win since 2017, so despite being favorites, Jacksonville has historically struggled at Lucas Oil Stadium.
