The Panthers have struggled, losing five of their last six games after starting the season 3-0. QB Sam Darnold threw three interceptions in a 24-6 home loss to the New England Patriots in Week 9. RB Christian McCaffrey returned to the lineup after a stint on injured reserve and had 52 yards on 14 rushing attempts.

The Cardinals were shorthanded Sunday, playing without QB Kyler Murray, WR DeAndre Hopkins and WR A.J. Green, but still improved to 8-1 on the season and 5-0 on the road with a 31-17 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Backup QB Colt McCoy passed for 249 yards and a touchdown, RB James Conner had 173 total yards from scrimmage with 3 touchdowns and the defense had 5 sacks and 3 takeaways.

Panthers at Cardinals head-to-head

The two teams have met 15 times in the regular season and three times in the playoffs. Overall, the Panthers lead the all-time series 13-5 and have won the last five times they have played.

The Cardinals last beat the Panthers in 2013.

This will be the third straight year the two teams play. In 2019, Carolina QB Kyle Allen threw 4 touchdown passes in a 38-20 win in Arizona. In 2020, the Panthers won 31-21 at home behind 2 touchdown passes from QB Teddy Bridgewater
