First College Football Playoff rankings to be released on Election Day

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee met this week to prepare for the upcoming season and review the schedule for its ranking announcements.

The dates have been released for the new 12-team format College Football Playoff rankings.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee met this week to review the schedule for its ranking announcements and prepare for the 2024 season.

The initial rankings for the College Football Playoff are set to be released on Tuesday, Nov. 5, which happens to be the same day as Election Day in the United States.

It was also announced by the committee that conference titles will not be used as a tiebreaker during the selection process since the five highest-ranked conference champions will get automatic playoff spots.

The final selection committee rankings of the 2024 season will be released on Sunday, Dec. 8 (also known as Selection Sunday). They will also announce the 12-team playoff bracket pairings and game sites on that day.
