Team USA defeated Japan, 105-61, Friday in the FIBA U19 World Cup quarterfinals.
The contest took place in Debrecen, Hungary.
Tennessee’s Tobe Awaka recorded 14 points, 10 rebounds and one steal for Team USA.
He converted 6-of-9 field goal attempts and 2-of-2 free throw attempts.
Team USA will next play France on Saturday in the semifinals. Tipoff is slated for 11:30 a.m. EDT.
Team USA, host Hungary, South Korea, Egypt, Canada, Argentina, Madagascar, Brazil, China, Slovenia, Turkey, Japan, Lebanon, Serbia and Spain are competing in the 2023 FIBA U19 World Cup.
Awaka appeared in 34 games as a freshman for the Vols during the 2022-23 season. He averaged 3.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game last season.
