Ferguson to miss seventh-straight game, out due to ‘personal reasons’

The Oklahoma City Thunder announced Tuesday that Ferguson was out against the Kings. Ferguson hasn’t played in a game since Jan. 17.

Terrance Ferguson is out again for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

According to Erik Horne of The Athletic, Ferguson was scratched from the lineup on Tuesday for personal reasons.

Wednesday night’s contest against the Sacramento Kings will be the seventh consecutive game that the third-year guard/forward has missed. He hasn’t played in a game since January 17 in a loss to the Heat.

Ferguson missed the second half of that game with an illness and did not play the following night against the Trail Blazers due to illness as well.

Since then, Ferguson has missed four games due to personal reasons.

In 36 games this season, Ferguson has been averaging 5.1 points and 1.7 rebounds in 26 minutes per game.

Lu Dort has stepped into the starting rotation in Ferguson’s absence. The rookie has played the role of defensive stopper and, as pointed out by Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman, has drawn assignments against James Harden, Trae Young, and Luka Doncic.

Should Dort get the starting nod again on Wednesday, it would be reasonable to believe he would be tasked with guard Buddy Hield, who is leading the Kings with 20.5 points per game and is coming off a career performance in which he scored 42 points.

Tip-off in Sacramento is at 9:00 p.m. CT.
