Favour Ashe makes historic debut for the Vols.

Freshman Favour Ashe had a successful debut for Tennessee men’s track team.

Ashe made his collegiate indoor debut, winning the 60-meter dash preliminary heat at Clemson’s Bob Pollack Meet.

His time of 6.58 seconds is the fourth best mark in UT history for the event.

Ashe, a native of Nigeria, ranks behind Tennessee greats Christian Coleman (6.45), Leonard Scott (6.48) and Justin Gatlin (6.54).

Ashe nearly tied Scott’s freshman record in the 60-meter dash (6.56) set in 1999.

Emmanuel Bynum also posted a personal best time of 6.82 seconds in the semifinals of the 60-meter dash.

Georgios Korakidis won the men’s weight throw with an effort of 20.76 meters.

Tennessee long jumpers Carey McLeod and Wayne Pinnock took second and third at Clemson. McLeod had a leap of 7.96 meters and Pinnock posted a mark of 7.92.
