Far Cry 6 will be free to play this weekend

PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players can try the game out.

If you missed out on Far Cry 6 back at launch, worry not – it’ll be free to play soon.

On Tuesday, Ubisoft announced that Far Cry 6 will be free from Feb. 16 through until Feb. 20, 2023, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It is a limited-time trial, but there’ll also be a considerable price cut – up to 70 percent off. The discount varies slightly depending on which version you want.

As for what you’ll be getting, there’s (of course) Far Cry 6’s base game, along with its crossover missions that take inspiration from Rambo: First Blood and Stranger Things. It’s also playable in co-op, so you and some friends can cause chaos in a tropical island paradise together! Spreading the love and all that good stuff.

All progress made during the trial carries over to the full release as well – though you’ll have to actually buy Far Cry 6 to keep playing after the trial period ends, of course.

Far Cry 6 came out back in 2021, and at the time, GLHF’s Paolo Sirio thought it was solid but also a reminder that the series needed a shakeup. Since thing, there have been rumors of standalone multiplayer Far Cry, but that remains a mystery.
