New York Jets RB Breece Hall comes into the new season with high expectations. After a stellar start to his rookie campaign in 2022, Hall missed the final 10 games of the season after tearing his ACL.
Before this injury, Hall had 80 carries for 463 yards and 4 rushing TDs, while also averaging 11.5 yards per receptions on 19 catches. He was the leading contender for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award before the injury — a trophy which eventually went to teammate WR Garrett Wilson.
If Hall can return fully healthy this season, the Jets will have a solid RB duo with former Minnesota Vikings star Dalvin Cook added to the backfield. While the addition of Cook will limit the upside of Hall, he will certainly get him time in the spotlight as both he and Cook are capable pass catchers. Whichever one can pass block better will be the favored back for QB Aaron Rodgers. This favored status will lead to a significant workload.

Breece Hall’s ADP: 44.98

Hall’s ADP places him in the middle of the 4th round in a 12-team league and as the 16th running back selected. While this is certainly in the realm of possibility, it is not likely with the addition of Cook to the backfield.
Cook, who suffered the same type of ACL injury as Hall during his rookie campaign, took more than an entire season to get back to health. Cook’s sophomore season was full of soft tissue injuries as he compensated for the recovering ACL. This could also be the case for Hall, who also must deal with the Met Life Stadium turf — something which has taken down several players in recent years.
If Hall can build upon his 5.8 yards per carry during his abbreviated rookie season, this could be a steal in drafts. But is the risk worth the reward?

Where should you draft Hall?
After a rookie season which saw Hall start as the RB 1 for New York, he enters this season in a clear timeshare with Cook in the backfield. This will minimize the upside for both backs.
The Jets will not want to overwork either player or it will be a true 50/50 split for most of the season in New York. Thus, an RB ranking of 16 is a bit high for Hall.
Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris, the 11th-ranked running back in ADP at 32.68, or Seattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III, the 17th-ranked RB at 47.15, are both safer picks at the position and could outproduce Hall or Cook.
Cook is currently going as RB 28 with an ADP of 72.75. This discount provides far more value for a pair of players likely to finish close in fantasy ranks.
Taking Hall in the 4th round could pay off, but it’s far more likely that it won’t. If Hall falls into the 5th or 6th round, he might be worth the risk. At RB 11, not so much.
