Fantasy football: Where to draft Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry

Analyzing Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry’s 2024 fantasy football ADP and where to target him in fantasy drafts.

RB Derrick Henry left his longtime home in the Tennessee Titans to go to a true contender in the Baltimore Ravens in the offseason. Henry has been a monster his entire career, eclipsing 1,000 rushing yards 5 times in the last 6 campaigns. Henry now goes to a team that led the league with an average of 156.5 rushing yards per game last season. Below, we look at Derrick Henry’s 2024 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Entering 2024, Henry is expected to add even more power and explosiveness to this Ravens offense, specifically the run-game. He should take a lot of the load off of MVP QB Lamar Jackson. Expect Henry to once again get to that 1,000-yard mark, despite him now being 30 years old.

Derrick Henry’s ADP: 25.41

(ADP data courtesy of MyFantasyLeague.com; last updated at time of this publishing – ADPs continually change as more drafts occur)

Henry’s 25.41 ADP in redraft leagues places him in the range of the late 2nd to 3rd round, depending on the size of the league. He has the highest ADP of any Ravens player — Jackson is 2nd (36.24).

Among running backs, Henry’s ADP puts him 9th at the position, behind the Rams’ Kyren Williams (21.16) and the Jaguars’ Travis Etienne (21.94), and just in front of the Dolphins’ De’Von Achane (26.59) and the Chiefs’ Isiah Pacheco (27.52).

Where should you draft Henry?

Henry has been a very reliable fantasy back since he burst onto the scene in 2016. In Baltimore’s offense that led the league in rushing yards per game and was 2nd in total rushing TDs, his value should only get a boost.

Henry isn’t a reliable option in the passing game, but the Ravens don’t need him to be nor did they sign him to play in that way. The Ravens will give Henry a lot of touches, and when running behind an offensive line that has allowed lesser backs to succeed in the past, Henry will be very productive.

Playing alongside Jackson does mean that a lot of these running plays will be option type of plays. Jackson will take away a fair amount of Henry’s carries, but with Jackson having a reliable back for the 1st time in his career, expect the QB to be handing the ball off a lot more and carrying the rock on his own a lot less.

The biggest worry with Henry is his age as he is now 30, which is considered old for a running back that has had many successful years under his belt. However, Henry hasn’t really shown signs of slowing down.

I see Henry has a low-tier RB1, simply because other backs have more value in the passing attack, or a high-tier RB2. Henry will still get a lot of touches, and he will more than likely produce efficiently when given those opportunities. So, feel confident in picking him up despite his age.
