Fantasy football draft: Where to target Washington Football Team WR Terry McLaurin

Analyzing Washington Football Team WR Terry McLaurin’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Washington Football Team WR Terry McLaurin exploded for his first 1,000-yard receiving campaign in 2020 after coming close in his rookie year of 2019. Below, we look at Terry McLaurin‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

The former Ohio State standout has missed three games in his two-year NFL career, but fantasy managers can give him a pass. He also has 145 receptions on 227 targets while amassing 2,037 yards with 11 touchdowns.

Not only is that impressive production, but it’s especially strong considering Washington has had a mish-mash of quarterbacks under center during his 29 NFL games. Last season alone saw Dwayne Haskins, Alex Smith, Kyle Allen and Taylor Heinicke under center for WFT.

Washington doesn’t have another legit downfield threat, as not many opposing defensive backs are fearful of WRs Cam Sims, Steven Sims or Isaiah Wright. So, a majority of the targets go to either McLaurin or TE Logan Thomas, and that’s just how fantasy managers like it.

McLaurin has been the 12th or 13th fantasy receiver off the board, switching spots with Chicago Bears WR Allen Robinson during the summer drafting period so far.

That puts him squarely on the low-end WR1/must-start WR2 borderline, and that’s pretty impressive for a guy who was a bit of a late bloomer at Ohio State, posting just 75 grabs for 1,251 yards in 38 college games with 19 touchdowns.

Not many saw this type of explosive production coming in the pros.

Where should you take McLaurin in your fantasy football draft?

McLaurin should be off the board by the end of Round 4, and honestly, it should even be a little earlier. No one could give you any grief if you were to nab him near the turn at the end of Round 3 into Round 4.

McLaurin has very little competition for targets among the Washington wideouts, and he gets a little more stability at quarterback with Ryan Fitzpatrick coming to the nation’s capital. If RB Antonio Gibson continues this impressive maturation, and Washington has a strong run game, that would open things up even more for McLaurin and the pass game.

McLaurin was targeted six or more times in every game he played last season, and he posted seven or more receptions in nine of his regular-season games.

What’s not to like? He is a great low-end WR 1 or top WR2 worthy of taking as early as pick No. 32.
