Fantasy football draft: Where to target Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris

Analyzing Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris’ 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Najee Harris heads into his rookie NFL season with sky-high expectations after being taken in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Below, we look at Najee Harris‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Harris will take over as the primary tailback in the Steel City as James Conner has moved along to the Arizona Cardinals. The rookie is easily the best option with only Benny Snell Jr. and Kalen Ballage as real threats to his workload.

Fantasy managers are very excited about his prospects and long-term keeper league players can’t wait to get their mitts on him.

Harris’ ADP: 15.65

Harris ranks 15th overall on the ADP report, and that’s a little high for my liking. I think he’ll be able to do big things in Pittsburgh, but I rarely like to hitch my fantasy fortunes to a first-year player. The leap from college to the pro level is a big deal.

In fact, Harris is going earlier than tried and true options like Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb, Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones and Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler.

Harris’ 2020 stats (at Alabama)

Rushing: 251 carries for 1,466 yards

Receiving: 43 receptions for 425 yards

Touchdowns: 26 rushing/4 receiving

Fumbles: 0 total (0 lost)

Where should you take Harris in your fantasy football draft?

Harris put up eye-popping numbers for head coach Nick Saban at Alabama. While I am leery of taking many rookies on draft day in fantasy, and try to limit myself to just one or two per season, Harris is definitely one of the top first-year players you’ll want to target.

All of the early reports have been very, very good. He is already endearing himself to the Pittsburgh community, has thrown out the first pitch at a Pirates game, and is already a fan favorite.

That’s all well and good but what about his fantasy value? Well, it’s promising. He has the ability to be a low-end RB1 in redraft leagues and he showed in his senior season at ‘Bama that he has great hands. As such, PPR players will also want him high on their cheat sheets. Taking him anywhere in the second round isn’t out of line.
