Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler had a breakout season in 2019, showing he could handle the rigors of being an NFL workhorse. He suffered an ugly injury early in the 2020 campaign, however, which derailed his season. Below, we look at Austin Ekeler‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.
Ekeler was limited to 10 games last season as he suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain in the first month of the season. He reportedly ripped part of the tendon in his hamstring from the bone and he spent several weeks on injured reserve as a result.
All indications are he is healthy and ready to roll into the upcoming season.

Ekeler is currently 22nd overall in ADP. Fantasy managers this summer haven’t been terribly concerned about his hamstring issue from last season, and are considering it a one-off situation. He is listed 11th among running backs in both overall leagues, and PPR leagues.
In other words, fantasy managers aren’t terribly concerned about riding with him as a low-end RB1 in any format.

Where should you take Ekeler in your fantasy football draft?
Ekeler was a huge disappointment last season. A good chunk of that can be chalked up to his hamstring issue suffered in Week 4.
Once he returned to action, it took him some time to get going. Two of his three total scores came in the final two games of the season after it was likely too late for most fantasy managers relying upon him.
Ekeler enters this season with more question marks than ever before. But you only need to look to 2019 to see what he is capable of doing in a full season when healthy. However, there was a coaching change in Los Angeles, which muddles things up a bit, too.
The Bolts back should still be nabbed by the end of Round 2 in most formats, but be sure to have plenty of depth on hand just in case that hamstring issue rears its ugly head again.
