Fantasy football draft: Where to target Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire

Analyzing Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire turned heads in his rookie season of 2020 for the AFC Champions, and he’ll be expected to take another step forward this season. Below, we look at Clyde Edwards-Helaire‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Edwards-Helaire played 13 games in his rookie season suffering a hip and ankle injury in December to end his regular season. He was able to return for the AFC Championship Game after a month-long absence, and he racked up 7.1 yards per attempt in Super Bowl LV against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

CEH looks primed and ready for his sophomore season in the pros, and unlike last season he’ll have a full offseason program instead of last season’s COVID interrupted summer.

Edwards-Helaire is listed 34th overall in ADP across all fantasy formats, and he is listed as 15th among all running backs off the board. While he is expected to see a lion’s share of the carries, Darrel Williams remains on the roster, and Jerick McKinnon is a reclamation project for the AFC champs.

In PPR formats, CEH is also listed 15th among all running backs, as he looks to improve upon his 36 receptions, 297 receiving yards and a score on 54 targets.

Where should you take Edwards-Helaire in your fantasy football draft?

There is some concern about the presence of Darrel Williams, who showed his worth with 13 carries for 78 yards in the AFC Divisional Round against the Cleveland Browns. While Williams is simply a complementary piece and not someone the Chiefs plan on relying upon, CEH did miss time last season. Head coach Andy Reid could work Williams, Darwin Thompson and McKinnon into the mix to preserve the second-year player.

You should begin to think about CEH in the third round, and no earlier, and if you’re able to get him in the middle of the third into the fourth round, he could be a nice little steal. He was on track for a 1,000-yard season before the injury derailed his rookie campaign.
