Fans think a Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Switch model just leaked

A special Switch model themed after the Breath of the Wild sequel may have just leaked, months ahead of Tears of the Kingdom’s release date

Nintendo may be preparing a Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch model, if a recent set of image leaks is to be believed. The leaks, posted on Famiboards (and first spotted by My Nintendo News) show a box featuring the Tears of the Kingdom key art, a white dock with an elaborate Hylian crest, and two Joy-Con, gold with green glitch patterns similar to what Nintendo showed crawling up Link’s arm in earlier trailers.

The box is oriented like the usual Nintendo Switch OLED boxes, and the font on the bottom matches the font used on the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet OLED model box. However, it’s still worth viewing the alleged leak with a healthy amount of skepticism.

There’s no way of confirming where the images come from, and while Nintendo has a tendency to release special edition systems before the games they’re themed after launch, it still seems a bit early for these units to start appearing in the wild.

Even if the leaks are showing a legitimate product, don’t expect it to be a new Switch model entirely. Hardware analysts expect Nintendo to avoid announcing a Switch successor until later in 2023 or in 2024.

You can see the images for yourself on Imgur. Tears of the Kingdom is set to launch on May 12, 2023.
