The hopes of Falcons fans who wanted to see star wide receiver Julio Jones remain in Atlanta took a major hit on Monday with one phone call.
In Monday’s edition of Undisputed on Fox Sports, Shannon Sharpe appeared to cold call Jones — who may not have known he was on TV — and asked him about the trade rumors. Jones said that he was “out” of Atlanta to the surprise of both Sharpe and Skip Bayless.
It was exactly the kind of news you would think that the Atlanta Falcons would like to avoid. Instead, they … uh … tweeted it out like it was nothing.

“In a call with Shannon Sharpe, Julio Jones commented on his future in Atlanta,” the official Twitter account of the Atlanta Falcons wrote. That’s one way to describe it.
And while all NFL teams have team-employed reporters, it was still odd to see the Falcons account tweet that story out and frame it so innocently. It all welcomed plenty of roasting from NFL fans.
Pssst. You are Atlanta … https://t.co/OBee7wlMAX
