If you’ve been paying attention to baseball this week then you know that the umps have been randomly checking pitchers for foreign sticky subtances and that the whole process has become an embarrassing mess for Rob Manfred, who continues to be a joke, and the game of baseball.
From Nationals ace Max Scherzer ripping open his belt to A’s reliever Sergio Romo dropping his pants, the whole thing has been really brutal for the great game.
On Wednesday night the umps ruined Mets pitcher Tylor Megill’s special moment to make sure he had nothing on him. Megill made his first MLB start against the Braves – he went 4 1/3 innings and gave up just two runs before being lifted in the fifth inning.
It was a good performance for a debut and the fans in New York cheered him as he walked to the dugout… and that’s when the umps stepped in did this:
