If there’s one thing NHL referee Wes McCauley loves, it’s making dramatic penalty calls.
McCauley became a fan-favorite referee in hockey after his dramatic goal call back in March 2016 went viral. Not only that, he followed it up a year later with his incredible emphasis in calling a fighting major in February 2017.
Now, years later, McCauley is still officiating NHL games and is still making very over-the-top calls in games. On Tuesday, in the first period of a game between the San Jose Sharks and Detroit Red Wings, McCauley announced a fighting major with maybe his most dramatic and animated call yet.
No one does it quite like Wes McCauley. 😂 pic.twitter.com/ZVno8a99jf

McCauley is such a joy, honestly. It’s clear he loves the sport and knows how to excite the fans with his showmanship during a random Tuesday evening game in early January.
The hockey world is a much better place with McCauley and his dramatic “FIGHTING” calls in it.
