After missing out on TCU transfer Ochaun Mathis, all hopes for Texas to land an experienced pass rusher were seemingly lost.
However, the Longhorns still have a prime opportunity to land a productive EDGE that recently entered his name into the portal.
FAMU pass rusher Isaiah Land, who was the 2021 FCS National Defensive Player of the Year, is now available and it seems based on a majority of the coaching staff following him on social media that the Longhorns are very much interested.

The issue is that Land will be receiving interest from several major programs around the country thanks to his nation-leading 19 sacks in 2021.
He burst onto the scene after having a solid season during the COVID-19 shortened year. Land is a hybrid EDGE/linebacker and would likely need to bulk up a tad to fill the EDGE slot at Texas, but nonetheless he had one less sack by himself than Texas had as a team in 2021. That’s not a joke.
The Longhorns will likely have to fend off every Florida school for his services, and a majority of the SEC. If he were to choose Texas he would be the most experienced and productive pass rusher on the team.
