Falcons rookie Kyle Pitts broke a longtime Julio Jones record in emphatic fashion

Kyle Pitts hit a milestone to start what should be a legendary career.

A passing of the torch happened in the Falcons’ Week 17 game against the Bills. Kyle Pitts, who has had one of the best rookie seasons ever for a tight end, just broke a Falcons record that was held by future Hall of Famer Julio Jones.

With a 61-yard catch and run, Pitts passed 1,000 receiving yards for the season and broke Jones’ franchise record for receiving yards by a rookie. In 2011, Jones had 959 receiving yards.

Pitts needed to be the big play threat for the Falcons through the air after Jones was traded to the Titans and it looks like he’s well on his way towards being a superstar in the NFL.

Pitts also became the first rookie tight end to eclipse 1,000 receiving yards in NFL history. He’s been as good as advertised.
