Fab Four: Selecting Tennessee football’s Mount Rushmore of all-time recruits

On the eve of early signing day, Vols Wire recalls the most hyped commits in school history.

Jabari Davis

Tennessee’s (34) Jabari Davis leaps over several Florida defenders during Saturday’s win over the Gators. Tennessee beat the Florida Gators 24-10. Florida players are Daryl Dixon (34) and Matt Kynes (9).

A 6-foot, 230-pound prospect out of Tucker, Georgia, Davis was another five-star prospect who was the top player in Georgia, the No. 2 running back and No. 9 player in the country in the class of 2001.

A physical runner, Davis never recorded more than 125 carries in one season, but he made the most of them.

Davis rushed for 569 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2002. In 2003, he totaled 565 yards and eight touchdowns.

He scored two touchdowns as a freshman against Florida during Tennessee’s 34-32 win at The Swamp in 2001. Davis defeated Florida three out of four times he played the Gators. He is known as “The Gator Killer.”
