Ex-Titans coach Arthur Smith expected to land OC job with Steelers

The Steelers are reportedly expected to hire former Titans OC Arthur Smith.

Less than a month after being fired from his job as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Arthur Smith has landed on his feet.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Pittsburgh Steelers are expected to hire Smith as their next offensive coordinator. Smith will be tasked with fixing a Steelers offense that finished 28th in scoring in 2023.

Smith spent three seasons as the Falcons’ head coach, where he compiled a 21-30 record after three consecutive 7-10 seasons. The biggest roadblock to success for Smith was no doubt his lackluster quarterback situation.

Prior to his stint in Atlanta, Smith had a wildly-successful run as the Titans’ play-caller, with Tennessee sporting a top-10 scoring offense in both of his two years as offensive coordinator, including a 2020 campaign in which Tennessee finished No. 4.

It was just a matter of when, not if, he would land another job.

Smith was first hired by the Titans in 2010 as a defensive quality control coach. He worked his way up from there to offensive line coach and then tight ends coach before landing the offensive coordinator job.
