Logan Ryan’s pick-six of Tom Brady in the wild card game last season was the dagger in the Tennessee Titans’ win over the New England Patriots, and it effectively sealed the deal for the Titans being dynasty killers.
After the game, Brady, who is a former teammate of Ryan’s, reached out to the cornerback with a message on Instagram, as Ryan revealed on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football”, per Sam Hellman of 247Sports.
“Tom reached out to me after the game on Instagram,” Ryan said. “he DMed me and said ‘congrats.’ He’s happy for me. He hated that it had to happen to him. Why couldn’t I drop both of (my interception chances). Why did I have to catch one? We’ve got a great relationship. It’s all love in the game. He’s a great competitor and he respects me for my play. But that’s just something I had to do to help us win. That ball is on a mantle. My kids play with a lot of my interception balls laying around. But that one, they can’t touch. That one’s on my mantle.”
After that iconic play involving both Brady and Ryan, the former teammates will have new homes in 2020.
Of course, Brady moved on from New England and signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Ryan, who has yet to find a new home, has already announced that he won’t be back in Nashville this season.
However, no matter where Ryan ends up signing, his name will live on thanks to his countless contributions to the Titans and the Nashville community as a whole over the course of his three seasons there.
