Ex-LSU safety Jamal Adams says Adam Gase is not the right leader for Jets

Adams didn’t have the most savory things to say about Gase.

Former LSU safety Jamal Adams recently opened up on his future with the New York Jets, as well as his relationship with coach Adam Gase and general manager Joe Douglas.

And he didn’t exactly have the best things to say about his coach.

“I don’t feel like he’s the right leader for this organization to reach the Promised Land,” Adams said of Gase in a story from the New York Daily News’ Manish Mehta . “As a leader, what really bothers me is that he doesn’t have a relationship with everybody in the building.”

In addition to telling Mehta that Douglas said he was willing to trade him ahead of the 2020 season, Adams elaborated upon how Gase approaches his players.

“At the end of the day, [Gase] doesn’t address the team,” Adams said. “If there’s a problem in the locker room, he lets another coach address the team. If we’re playing [expletive] and we’re losing, he doesn’t address the entire team as a group at halftime. He’ll walk out of the locker room and let another coach handle it.”

It will be interesting to see how things ultimately pan out with the Jets for all parties involved, but the situation with Adams doesn’t sound like one they should continue to let worsen — as if it hasn’t already gotten bad enough.
