Ex-Giants coach Pat Shurmur seeking offensive coordinator job

Former New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur is determined to return as an offensive coordinator somewhere in 2020.

Former New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur isn’t interested in taking a year or two off and sitting on the couch, instead looking to pick himself right back up after a failed two seasons in East Rutherford.

Late last week, there were reports circulating that the Washington Redskins were potentially interested in hiring him as their next offensive coordinator, but that has yet to materialize.

Even with that seemingly falling flat, Shurmur remains undeterred and determined to find himself a role in 2020, reports the New York Post.

Fired by the Giants last week, Shurmur prefers to jump right back into coaching and is expected to be sought after for an offensive coordinator position in 2020 rather than sit out a season, a source told The Post. Shurmur called plays in both of his head coach stops (Browns) and has been offensive coordinator for the Rams, Eagles and Vikings.

Ironically, if Eric Bieniemy, whom the Giants interviewed for the head coaching vacancy left by Shurmur, is hired by another NFL team, Shurmur becomes a prime candidate to take over in Kansas City. It’s also possible he could return to Minnesota depending on how things shake out there.

Whatever ultimately shakes loose for Shurmur, it’s clear he has no intention on sulking. He’s going to get right back onto the horse and keep riding.
