Ex-Giant Eli Manning expects tough transition for Tom Brady

Retired New York Giants QB Eli Manning expects a tough transition for Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady thanks to COVID-19.

The NFL offseason has been anything but normal thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, which has dramatically impacted executives, coaches and players across the league.

For coaches and players moving onto new teams, the entire experience has proven especially difficult. And that’s why retired New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning expects Tom Brady to struggle a bit during his transition to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“I think it’s gonna be tough for him, just the fact he can’t be doing everything he wants to be doing with the team and getting ready,” Manning said Monday on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “Obviously, they have some playmakers at receiver there, when you got talented receivers it makes it a little bit easier to get on the same page with ’em. It will be interesting how it all plays out and how quickly he can just adjust to a new organization and new players and new offense, all those new things, especially with the limited timing he’s gonna have being with them.”

Manning had faced a similar offseason fate before ultimately deciding to retire following the 2019 season, allowing him to step away as a member of the Giants having never taken a snap for another NFL team.

Brady faced similar offseason questions, but ultimately decided to return in 2020 and leave New England. Now in Tampa Bay, he will connect with head coach Bruce Arians and have an array of weapons, including the returning Rob Gronkowski.
