Ex-Chiefs TE Demetrius Harris reunited with Matt Nagy on Bears

Demetrius Harris has found a home with the Chicago Bears after being released by the Cleveland Browns.

A pair of former Kansas City Chiefs have been reunited in Chicago.

Just two days ago, former Chiefs TE Demetrius Harris was released from his multi-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. Many posited that a reunion with Kansas City might be in order, specifically because Harris would not count toward the compensatory pick formula after being released from his contract. Another team also had this loophole in mind and swooped in to sign him.

Harris has landed with his former offensive coordinator from his time with the Chiefs. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Harris is set to sign a one-year contract to join Matt Nagy and the Chicago Bears.

When Nagy was an offensive coordinator with Kansas City, Harris saw two of his best seasons as a professional. Harris made 18 total starts for the Chiefs between 2016-17. During the 2017 season, Harris also saw career highs in both receptions and yards.

The Bears are hoping that Harris can provide some good depth at the TE position as three tight ends found themselves on the injured reserve list in 2019. Harris is likely hopeful a familiar system will help him exceed his previous statistical achievements and reach new heights.
