The path that led to the Boston Celtics finally winning Banner 18 after defeating the Dallas Mavericks in five games in the 2024 NBA Finals was a long one. It took a total of six unfruitful trips to the Eastern Conference finals to punch through to get to the NBA finals AND win the whole thing.

There were a lot of trades of key, beloved players. A Celtics life and President of Basketball Operations fell on his sword along the way in Danny Ainge. Current team president Brad Stevens stepped down from his prior gig as head coach, and Ime Udoka was hired and let go after a scandal that could have derailed all of this. And then Joe Mazzulla was hired into the job, and may have come within one crash from the corner away from being fired before helping get this squad across the finish line.

The hosts of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took a closer look at how this team got to the top of the NBA mountain on a recent episode.
