Texas’ 2022 season is off to a good start.
The Longhorns comfortably handled UL Monroe by a score of 52-10 in Saturday’s opener. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian was pleased with the effort and performance shown by his team but stresses the Horns are far from a finished product.
Quinn Ewers’ Texas debut was a mixed bag of highs and lows. Ewers followed up an ugly interception on his opening drive with a touchdown pass to Ja’Tavion Sanders. The deep ball never quite hit for Ewers but the redshirt freshman showed some poise to pick up a few key third and fourth down conversions.
Sarkisian was happy with the inspired play of the defense. Texas did an excellent job against the rushing attack and looked more physical up front. The pass rush even got home for three sacks in the game.
Here is everything Steve Sarkisian said to the media following Texas’ 52-10 win over UL Monroe.
