As the season rapidly approaches, many expect Notre Dame football will play itself into a spot in the [autotag]College Football Playoff[/autotag].
It’s as if the bigger question is what seed the Irish will get. On Wednesday ESPN played out how it believes the playoffs will play out. Two of its college football analysts, Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach, made their choices (subscription required).
Both have Notre Dame making it. Bonagura has it as the No. 8 seed while Schlabach has it at No. 9. At No. 8, the Irish are projected to host Penn State, while at No. 9 they would travel to face new-look Alabama.

Only Bonagura has Notre Dame making it out of the first-round and facing his projected top seed, Georgia, in the quarterfinals. Ultimately, each has the same teams facing off for the title, Ohio State and the Bulldogs.
Schlabach picked his winner, Georgia, while Bonagura didn’t make a selection. Regardless of the outcome, neither believes the Irish are legit contenders to take home the first expanded playoff title.
