ESPN predicts Auburn to cruise to victory over Ole Miss

Auburn desperately needs a win on Tuesday. ESPN believes that they will get it done.

As the college basketball season heads into its final two weeks of regular season play, the Auburn Tigers are desperately needing to win games in order to stay in the hunt for an NCAA Tournament berth. Their first opportunity to boost their resume comes Wednesday night at Neville Arena against the Ole Miss Rebels.

All signs point to Auburn grabbing the win, as they have already taken care of the Rebels once this season, 82-73 in Oxford back on Jan. 10. This time around, Auburn welcomes the Rebels to Neville Arena, where they have won 30 of their last 32 games played. But how does the data at ESPN see the game shaking out?

According to the latest data from ESPN’s Matchup Predictor, Auburn has a 90.5% chance to get the win. In a measure of projected competitiveness and excitement in the game, using a 0 to 100 scale, with 100 as the most exciting, the ESPN Basketball Power Index has given the game a matchup quality grade of 69.0.

If the prediction becomes true, the Tigers would earn its third win over its last seven opportunities.

The oddsmakers at BetMGM are also high on the Tigers to beat Ole Miss on Wednesday, by listing them as 12.5-point favorites. The over/under is set at 135.5.
