ESPN positions Cooper DeJean well inside their top 25 2024 NFL draft prospects

With his combine and Pro Day still to come, Cooper DeJean is trending for the first round. ESPN has him in their top 25 2024 NFL prospects.

At what point can we consider it more of a “when” as opposed to an “if” that Cooper DeJean is drafted in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft?

The Iowa Hawkeyes star is trending towards the first round from nearly every analyst and outlet. He has recently been sent to the Los Angeles Rams and the Philadelphia Eagles in recent mock drafts.

DeJean’s newest recognition comes from ESPN’s Field Yates and his top 25 prospects for the 2024 NFL draft. Yates has DeJean as the No. 19 overall player entering this year’s upcoming draft.

DeJean — whose season ended early with a leg injury — stood out not just as a cornerback but also as one of the most feared returners in college football. His explosiveness shows up all over the field, and he’s an interception waiting to happen (he had seven over the past two seasons, returning three for a touchdown). DeJean has the skill to play either corner or safety, but his natural position of cornerback is such a premium in the NFL. – Yates, ESPN

Yates hits the nail on the head here. DeJean is not just a one-trick pony. He is an all-around stud in the secondary who has the instincts, athleticism, talent, and football IQ to play any position from cornerback to safety. Ball skills and the ability to intercept the ball translate anywhere.

Cooper DeJean comes in as Yates’ No. 3 cornerback on his board. Ahead of him is Nate Wiggins of Clemson, the No. 13 prospect overall, and Terrion Arnold of Alabama, the No. 21 prospect overall.
