Texas head coach Tom Herman consistently provides the media with interesting quotes.
On top of an unchartered year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Herman had to deal with constant questions surrounding his future at Texas. While his job status remains up in the air, the fourth-year head coach attempted to remain optimistic and ignore the speculation.
ESPN recently compiled a fun group of quotes that shaped the 2020 college football season. Players, coaches and school presidents were among those who made the most memorable statements this year.
Herman was listed on three different occasions, two of which related to his job status at Texas.
“I’m not gonna worry about a grown man’s tweet count.”
Herman provided the media with this quote after being asked whether it bothers him that athletic director Chris Del Conte doesn’t tweet about football victories anymore. Del Conte often tweeted about the football program but seemingly went silent once Herman’s future became uncertain.
“When you don’t get on the internet and you stick to Yahoo News and Words with Friends and the Chive app when you’re bored, you tend to stay above the fray a little bit.”
When Herman was asked about the rumors regarding his job status, he attempted to tell the media that he doesn’t get on the internet to feed into the chaos. He stays in his lane on three specific apps, apparently.
Unfortunately, one other quote from Iowa State running back Breece Hall appeared on the list that was a direct shot at Texas.
“It’s five-star culture vs. five-star players.”
Hall’s postgame statement after Iowa State defeated Texas 23-20 quickly made its rounds on social media.
