As NBA head coaching vacancies continue to mount, Michigan basketball’s Juwan Howard is saying, ‘Thanks, but no thanks.’
With every new opening, NBA insiders have exclaimed that Howard would be a name of interest, but one of the most prominent people in the know is saying that the third-year Wolverines head coach has zero interest in leaving his alma mater.
Having already released a statement last August when teams started to show interest after his first season in Ann Arbor, Howard is adamant that he’s staying put. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Howard won’t even talk to NBA franchises about their head coaching openings, maintaining that he’s content with his current position.

Of course, not only was Howard a part of the the Fab Five, he just took his alma mater to the Elite Eight in his second season with the program. He also has been on fire recruiting, having secured the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class in 2021.
Additionally, his son Jace is on the team as a scholarship player and the maize and blue are in strong contention to land his other son, a four-star forward, Jett, in the 2022 class.
