The 2020 free agency market in the NBA is going to be severely altered due to the league being hit hard financially due to the global pandemic. The league lost tons of money due to no games being played from March 11 until July 30 and no fans being allowed at the restart.

For the Philadelphia 76ers, they did not have much cap space to use anyway due to their free agency splurge in 2019, but they have two key members of their roster who will enter free agency in Alec Burks and Glenn Robinson III.

The Sixers acquired both players from the Golden State Warriors at the trade deadline and they played well in their short time in Philadelphia. Robinson III was, unfortunately, affected by an injury during the restart and he was able to play only two games and he was unable to play in the playoffs, but Burks fashioned himself a nice restart averaging 14.6 points and shooting 57.1% during the seeding games.

ESPN’s Bobby Marks has put out his free agency projections for the 2020 offseason in terms of how much money each free agent will get. He has Burks penciled in at $4-6 million and Robinson III projected at $2-4 million.

Burks recently just switched agents as he prepares for this uncertain offseason, but he should be able to use his strong bubble run to be able to get the most out of the upcoming free agency market. There is a chance that Philadelphia retains him, but they could also use his roster spot for somebody a bit cheaper like, say, D.J. Augustin for example.

Robinson III is in an unfortunate position after not being able to play much during the bubble due to his injury. He was ready for a much bigger role on the Sixers than he had before the season was suspended and he did score 15 points in the one full game he played against the Phoenix Suns. It will be interesting to see what happens with his situation because he can be a serviceable role player off Philadelphia’s bench. [lawrence-related id=38623,38620,38580]
