After starting the season 17-2, the Alabama Crimson Tide have climbed all the way up to No. 2 in this week’s AP poll. Alabama has frequently looked like the best team in the country, especially considering that they have played the fourth-strongest strength of schedule so far this year.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi, a college basketball expert, currently projects that the Tide will be a No. 1 seed in March Madness alongside Purdue, Houston and Tennessee. Alabama and Tennessee will meet on Feb. 15 in Knoxville for the poll position in the SEC. The Crimson Tide have never before been a No. 1 seed in the big dance.
The Crimson Tide will host the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Wednesday, a team they already knocked off 78-67 earlier in the year. Then on Saturday, they will play the Oklahoma Sooners on the road in the Big 12/SEC challenge.
